Sadeh

Sadeh is a Persian and Zoroastrian festival to honor fire. The word "sadeh" means hundred and marks 50 days and 50 nights before Nowruz, the Persian new year.

Before the day of Sadeh, Zoroastrians prepare by gathering wood and shrubs for a large fire to be lit the following day. On Sadeh itself, the fire remains lit all night while some Mobeds (Zoroastrian priests) will recite verses from the Avesta.
