Mehregan

Mehregan, also known as Jashan e-Mehr, is a traditional Iranian festival that is celebrated during the autumn equinox. The festival dates back to ancient Persia/ Zoroastrianism and is still celebrated today by people around the world.

During Mehregan, people come together to honor the god Mithra, a divinity in Zoroastrianism, and express thankfulness. In ancient times, it was celebrated lavishly at Persepolis with grand feasts/gifts and celebrations arranged by the nobles.

Today, the festival is typically marked by feasts, music, dancing, and the exchange of gifts. Overall, it is celebrated very similarly to Nowruz.
